Poppies Cafe – Ulverston
Poppies Cafe owners Michael and Amy Bleasdale wanted a website to promote their popular Ulverston Cafe and Bistro.
The key to any food establishment website is to put the menu online so that groups of people in particular can select and pre-order their food choices. Adding prices helps here too.
The website also features the usual contact us and location pages and a Daily Specials page which Amy updates, well, daily. This is quick and easy to do (even though most website owners don’t do it!), shows that the business is active and helps build up the website content.
The Temple Thai Restaurant – Ulverston
The Temple Thai had an existing website which required updating.
All text was supplied by The Temple Thai and the majority of time was spent on putting the menu online, designing a header and integrating the look and feel of the existing advertising into the website.
The site is easily updateable with latest offers including a downloadable Xmas Menu and we have incorporated an online customer survey.
Mark Cooper Painting And Decorating – Barrow in Furness
Mark Cooper of Mark Cooper Painting and Decorating did not have a website and wanted an online prescence for a number of reasons:
- To showcase his business
- To reduce the costs (space) of offline advertising
- To provide contact information for people looking for his services online
Mark also wanted the website to be easy to update with details of work that he had completed and to display customer testimonials.
Like many owners of local businesses, Mark is very busy running his business and is not familiar with writing copy for websites. Over the course of two face to face meetings, we discussed the content required then I went away and wrote it for him.
A Holden – Barrow in Furness
A Holdens are specialists in uPVC windows, doors, fascias, conservatories, carports and garage doors. In addition they run a trade counter supplying all diy materials and can supply any spare part for any window or door manufactured in the last 20 years.
They had an existing website which was unfinished. I rebuilt the site retaining the look of the old website. As A Holdens supply a wide range of services and products, part of the challenge was to showcase them all effectively. This was achieved by using drop down navigation menus.
The website is easy to update with special offers.
Old Daltongate House – Ulverston
The owner of Old Daltongate House was starting a new bed and breakfast business at the property and wanted a website to show room details and tariffs plus contact information and general information about the area.
According to the owner the website has been responsible for 90% of all accommodation bookings since it went live.
This is in part due to Google first page rankings for “ulverston bed and breakfast” and “ulverston b&b”
Moat Farm Equestrian Centre – Aldingham
Moat Farm Equestrian Centre was set up in late 2008 after much planning and hard work. They wanted a website which would engage their primarily young potential audience, provide details of their services and horses and the classes that they run.
As there are frequent updates to classes and events we’ve also added a blog which incorporates an online events calendar.
In addition we’ve also added a newsletter facility to enable the equestrian centre to contact and market to their customers and potential customers.
Newsletters and updates are written by one of the owners and emailed to me. I then deal with the administration.
The fact that the equestrian centre regularly take booking from as far afield as Manchester is proof of the marketing power of their website.
Ardent Dental Care – Barrow in Furness
Ardent Dental Care already had 2 existing websites! but were unhappy with both of them.
Long term the best solution both from a promotional and cost point of view, was to start from scratch with a new site to replace the existing websites.
Over a number of meetings with the practice manager we jointly worked out a strategy and what was required.
The website is easily updated with special offers. We’ve also set up an automated lead capture and marketing system which allows Ardent Dental Care to market to their exisiting and prospective patients.
Discover The Lakes
Discover The Lakes is my own website run in conjunction with a business partner.
The website ranks highly for hundreds of search terms related to the Lake District and attracts a large amount of visitors every day. The majority of people who visit the website are from the major UK cities and are looking for information on accommodation and activities in the Lake District. We have a number of advertising partners to whom we send this traffic.
Alan Newton Yachts
Alan had an existing website that he’s built on “Geocities” some years ago, or at least he thought he had. In reality, when Yahoo took over Geocities last year they decided to delete all the free website hosting accounts, so along with many others Alan’s website had disappeared leaving him without an online prescence.
I re-built the site using information supplied by Alan adding a blog section which is easy to update with news. The website serves as a showcase for Alan’s yacht design business and has already generated interest and potential orders.
C and M Enterprises
Covering a diverse range of businesses, primarily the Community Times Furness and Community Times Ulverston magazines and Diamond Personal Coaching, the C and M Enterprises website was a new build to publicise the various businesses under one umbrella.
The site features an easily updateable news section and offers the choice of subscribing to up to three separate newsletters. Grouping of the businesses was acheived by the use of drop down menus.
Furness BNI
The Furness chapter of Business Network International, of which I am a member, had an existing website which required updating.
I rebuilt the site to include a comprehensive member profile page and sections promoting BNI membership and contact information.
We also have a section for members to submit their testimonials about how BNI has helped their business marketing.
Barrow Training Partnership
Barrow Training Partnership run by Keith Diamond had an existing one page website that desperately needed updating. Keith was unable to contact the people who had built and hosted the site so I was contacted to assist.
A new, simple website was built highlighting the three main business areas that the company cover, together with contact information for the company.
Accounting For Safety – Barrow in Furness
Jimmy Tongue from Accounting For Safety – a safety training company based in Barrow had an existing website but was looking for more website traffic.
I advised him that a blog that he could update regularly with industry news and his own case studies would attract more search engine traffic over time.
I built the blog to incorporate the existing branding of the company.
Ralph Spours Estate Agents – Ulverston
Ralph Spours is an estate agent with a difference as Ralph has his own unique style. His website reflects that and incorporates a diary which contains a paragraph of information on Ralph’s business and social activities for the previous three days.
Until we had a chat, Ralph was just deleting his previous diary entries, but I convinced him that he should transfer them to a blog where they would be archived for him and his many fans to enjoy.
Of course, over time, the blog will attract search engine traffic who may well buy or sell a house using Ralph’s services.
